Chief People Officer

Position Summary

The Chief People Officer (CPO) will plan, lead, direct, develop, and coordinate the policies, activities, and staff of the Human Resources (HR) department, ensuring legal compliance and implementation of the organizations values and talent strategy; reports to the CEO and serves on the executive leadership team; and assists and advises organizations about union relations and all HR issues.

What You Will Do

  • Collaborate with senior leadership on organizational strategy and goals related to staffing, recruiting, and retention.
  • Plan, develop, and implement policies and procedures to support the organizations human resource strategic and operational goals.
  • Advise and educate leaders on union collective bargaining agreement to ensure compliance, comanage employee grievance process and disciplinary procedures in consultation with external counsel when necessary.
  • Oversee the administration of human resource programs including employment, compensation, benefits, organizational development, employee relations, and performance management.
  • Oversee leave of absences, ADA accommodations, and internal investigations ensuring compliance with federal and state laws and applying internal policies equitably.
  • Oversee leadership training and workforce development programs, including facilitating guided conversations to ensure understanding and daytoday application.
  • Manage data dashboards and provide analysis and insights on turnover, retention, recruiting, DEIB metrics, and other Human Resources organizational metrics, updating and routinely reporting to executive leadership team.
  • Manage talent acquisition; develop and execute best practices for recruiting, hiring, and onboarding.
  • Manage and resolve employee relations matters; oversee or conduct investigations and mediations when needed.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; apply this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and procedures.
  • Assist Chief DEIB Officer in developing and implementing diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging initiatives to create an environment where historically underrepresented groups feel safe and included.
  • Ensure DEIB lens is applied to all employment relations matters, compensation strategy, and policy to ensure equity and prevent disparate impact. Consult with Chief DEIB Officer as needed.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

Job Scope

The position oversees the execution of the human resources function in support of Crisis Connections mission, values, and goals. Responsible for developing and implementing programs, policies, and procedures to accomplish company objectives. Decisions are made within a flexible team operating structure.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; Masters level preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years of executivelevel human resource management experience required.
  • Advanced knowledge of employmentrelated laws, regulations, and compliance.
  • Experience managing full recruitment lifecycle.
  • Experience managing complex employee relations issues.
  • Experience negotiating and implementing collective bargaining agreements and representing organization management in labor relations with unions.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems.
  • Smart phone with ability to download the Microsoft Multifactor Authentication (MFA) application.

Working Conditions

Individuals in this position should be able to sit or stand for lengthy periods of time. Individuals will need to be able to wear a headset or earphones as they take calls and attend meetings. Individuals will need to manage several IT/software platforms at once and be able to function in an environment with moderate noise and distraction. This position will expose you to conversations about suicide, mental health issues and staff responding to crisis situations.
