Job Overview J & K Communications is in immediate need of an experienced Two‑Way Radio Systems Technician in the Columbia City area. The role involves performing in‑house and in‑field responses to radio problems and component‑level repairs on fixed, mobile, and portable equipment. Responsibilities Install and maintain two‑way radio systems, including base stations, repeaters, and mobile radios. Troubleshoot and repair radio equipment, diagnosing faults and replacing faulty components. Conduct preventative maintenance and routine inspections of radio equipment. Research and evaluate system problems and recommend solutions. Work with the sales team to assist in coordinating project installation/deployments. Install and/or remove electronic equipment such as radio interoperability gateways, remote controls, and external speakers related to communications systems. Assist with the specifications and design of dispatch and remote communications installations. Participate in on‑call rotation for after‑hours emergency call‑outs (approximately 1 day per week and 1 weekend every 5 weeks; daily incentive when on‑call). Communicate professionally with co‑workers and customers daily. Maintain a positive, team‑oriented attitude and prioritize/multitask effectively. Qualifications At least 2 years of experience with land mobile radio systems, including Conventional Analog, Digital, NXDN Trunking, P25 (Atlas), and IP‑based systems. Experience with consoles and I/O interconnections. FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License; FCIA, NABER, or equivalent industry certification is a plus. Benefits & Compensation Competitive wages.
