Position Summary Phlebotomists collect blood specimens from inpatients and outpatients while adhering to established protocols to ensure proper sample collection and patient safety. They transport blood specimens to laboratory departments in accordance with proper procedures for such transport and handling. They conduct in‑service education programs relating to the theories and techniques of phlebotomy and perform related clerical work. Duties Collect blood specimens from patients through venipuncture, capillary puncture, or incision techniques. Provide phlebotomy services to patients in inpatient, outpatient, and off‑site areas following physicians’ orders. Enter data for blood specimens into a computer database; maintain appointment schedules and logs; record and file test results; keep statistics and perform clerical duties. Supervise, teach, and support medical technology students in phlebotomy theory and technique by designing and implementing instruction programs. Attend and/or present related hospital in‑service programs. Maintain proper inventory of supplies and materials needed for daily blood specimen collection. Participate in the overall laboratory function by assuming occasional shift substitutions or working prolonged shifts. Perform other related duties as required or directed. Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent and one year of experience as a Phlebotomist or a certificate in Phlebotomy from a recognized college, school, training program, hospital, health care facility, or the Armed Services. Prior hospital/lab experience and basic understanding of medical laboratory technology. Special Notes Resume/CV should be included with the online application.
