To support that growth, we are seeking a Tax Consultant to serve as a player‑coach—preparing and reviewing tax returns while mentoring Staff Preparers. In this role, you’ll help support day‑to‑day tax operations, assist in staff development, and build strong relationships with clients. You’ll also partner with the Senior Tax Consultants to lead tax initiatives and ensure high‑quality, timely service across a range of individual and business engagements. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in individual and business tax preparation, staff mentoring and development, client communication, tax issue resolution, and project management. You’ll be detail‑driven, highly organized, and confident interacting with clients’ complex tax situations. You’ll bring a calm, solution‑oriented mindset to a fast‑paced environment and be ready to guide others, contribute to tax planning strategies, and maintain strong client relationships. You’ll also need to demonstrate professionalism, expertise in specialized areas of tax, and a passion for developing others. What You Will Bring, Do, and Own Prepare and review accurate and timely tax returns for individuals and businesses. Mentor and aid in the training of Staff Preparers to ensure team success. Review prepared returns for accuracy and compliance, identifying and addressing any issues. Oversee multiple tax compliance and consulting projects simultaneously. Assist in resolving IRS notices and collaborate with the Tax Resolution team. Provide input on tax planning strategies for both individual and business clients. Research complex tax topics and communicate findings clearly to clients and team members. Maintain strong client relationships, responding to inquiries and identifying growth opportunities. Serve as a point of contact for audit‑related matters when needed. Ensure efficient and accurate tax return entry, timekeeping, and use of firm systems. Achieve a billable percentage of 75% each quarter. Conduct client‑facing tax planning meetings. Experience and Education You Will Need Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience. 5+ years of tax preparation experience, including individual and business returns. At least 3 years of prior management or supervisory experience strongly preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. CPA or EA required, proof is required.
